2009 CHURCH REMARKS
WYOMING DISTRICT
CHERRY STREET BIBLE CHURCH - Plymouth, PA This past year here at Cherry Street has been a great year. We saw many new faces out with us in worship and brought in many new members as well. The church over the year grew spiritually as people are stepping up and out in faith. We also saw the amount of people coming to worship go up as well. Our small groups had another great year as our men's group went to a conference in Harrisburg and our mothers with school age and infant children small group is doing great as they grow in the Lord together as well.
PLYMOUTH FRANKLIN STREET - Plymouth, PA Our Lord has shown His faithfulness to us throughout 2009. This year has seen us lose some of our faithful and lifelong members. We welcomed new members, both adult and junior. Our youth group participated at the sing-a-thon at Green Ridge PM Church. Outreaches included Halloween and a seminar entitled, "What in the world is Going On?" Young musicians from Nanticoke Area School District volunteered their time and talents to play for us during the Advent season. We are looking forward to having them with us as often as possible. We want to serve the Lord until He comes.
GREEN RIDGE - Scranton, PA We don't know what is in the future, but Rev. Beth's positive attitude keeps us encouraged though numbers decline due to aging. Continued efforts to win souls as several walked surrounding neighborhood placing doorhangers, resulted in one visitor and return of an inactive member. Two concerts, winter picnic, summer picnic at PMBC and men enjoying monthly fellowship breakfast. Mold problem required renovating fellowship room with hours of selfless timegiving by Rev. Beth and several other men. Cleaning and property upkeep faithfully done by volunteers. Offerings from combined Wednesday night Lenten services with Blakely and Dickson City given to PMBC. We note the homegoing of Rev. Harold K. Hatton. His wisdom and gentle smile are sorely missed.
EAST END - Wilkes-Barre, PA We had a good year at East End. We took in several new members and sent several of our young people to camp, as well as 4 camp workers. Our Bible Studies are going well. We had 3 major outreach programs this year: at our Easter Egg Hunt we had a puppet show that tells the Easter story, with 50 children and the adults who attend with them (they all heard the Gospel); we invite the neighborhood to our summer fest, with games and food - each attendee receives a salvation tract; about 70 kids plus parents came to our fall fest in October. We also held a benefit for one of our members, Beth Stawasz, who lost her battle with Leukemia.
LAUREL RUN - Wilkes-Barre, PA We continue to serve the Lord in Laurel Run with our movie nights and we had a wonderful VBS. We sent supplies and coats to the Native Americans at Tree of Life, gave to Samaritan's Purse for Haiti and for Operation Christmas Child. We were blessed to have Rev. Vasey tell of God's work in Guatemala and to have Precious Moments for the Wilsons in PNB. In July we served a free breakfast to the drivers and families in the Giant's Despair Hillclimb race and gave each one a Gideon New Testament. In November we celebrated the 125th anniversary of our church with a homecoming service followed by a banquet at the Ramada Inn. We hope to keep serving the Lord until He comes.
PARSONS - Wilkes-Barre, PA the Parsons PM Church is a family-oriented church that values people and community. Outreach events included our second annual trunk or treat, a movie night, and our annual Christmas Cantata. For our community we host the monthly meeting of the local crime watch, sponsor the local little league and offer our facility for a weekly daisy scout meeting. For growth and discipleship we continue to offer two Sunday morning worship services, Sunday school for all ages, a mid-week Bible study and a women's Bible study. Several of our men participate in the monthly district men's prayer breakfast. We continue to praise God for the privilege of serving Him.
MESSIAH (BEAR CREEK) - Wilkes-Barre, PA The church experienced a busy year for the Lord. Many people completed their reading of the Bible in a year. Bible Study completed The Truth Project, 40 Days of Love, and began the Essential 100 Study. Our 30 Pieces of Silver Project gve $2,000 for computers for schools in Nebaj and Chajul, Guatemala. Concerts by the Blackwoods and Jacobs Brothers were blessings. We praise God for the many experiences shared this year. Our fellowship featured trips to Baltimore Inner Harbor, Washington DC, a rainy Yankees(AAA)game, dinner, movie nights, Ladies' Nite Out, Harvest Festival, New Life Sunday, to name a few. P.T.L.
AVOCA (St. John's) This year a new vision for the church was cast. We have begun to implement part of the vision with two discipleship groups - one after service and one that meets at the parsonage. We are currently studying the Old Testament. We have begun to do some outreach to local nursing homes, hospitals and to shut-ins. Our goal is to extend the love of Christ outside the four walls of the church to a hurting world with the message of salvation. We also just finished a very positive community outreach with other denominations during the Lenten season. Our goal for the upcoming year is to develop our prayer and hospitality teams to care for the needs of the congregation and to welcome visitors.
DICKSON CITY - PA This past year was a solid year of ministry at the Dickson City Primitive Methodist Church. We focused on fulfilling Jesus' mission in our community and were blessed to partner with others in order to make that happen. We pursued God's vision and have taken steps towards fulfilling it. We face the future with joy and hope.
JERMYN - PA Greetings from Jermyn. We are thankful for so many wonderful gifts God has given us as individuals and as a church. We have several very young children and a great fellowship for their growth and formation as Christians. Our choir continues to provide inspiring leadership in our worship services. Several missions programs and initiatives have resulted in an increase in our mission support. Included among the community programs we support with projects or gifts are: the Red Cross, the Rescue Mission, a local food bank and Ronald McDonald House. Our VBS continues to have good attendance and participation.
BLAKELY - PA Blakely is praising and thanking the Lord for sending Pastor Scott and Suzanne to us. Before finally moving into the parsonage in July, Pastor, Suzanne and their families worked along with church members and friends to complete much needed work and repairs, including painting, new washer and dryer, and new flooring in bed, living and dining rooms, after which they hosted a "thank you" cookout in the parsonage backyard. In October we and our District Superintendent officially welcomed the McGradys to our church family and community with a dinner in their honor. We've started a weekly Bible study, youth group and joined with our sister PM churches in Lenten services. Several new faces are seen regularly at our worship services, where we are fed with good "old-fashioned" preaching from the Word. We look forward to another successful year with Pastor Scott.
TAYLOR - PA "The Lord giveth, and the Lord taketh away; blessed be the name of the Lord." Job 1:21. We lost three of our members by death, but praise the Lord, we added four adult members by confession of faith. Rev. Gillard Evans was among those that passed on, and his presence, wisdom, encouragement and support will be greatly missed. Mrs. Ruth Reitz is very faithful and supportive of the Lord's work, for which we are thankful. Our mission giving increased again this year, and God's blessing is evident in the proclamation of His Word.
HAZLETON - PA Matthew 28:18-20. In order to be faithful to the call to win souls for Christ in the face of a changing ethnic population, we have striven to find ways to evangelize in our neighborhoods - forming an Evangelism Committee, holding a "Trunk & Treat" ministry to over 150 children. Upcoming outreach ministries are being planned. Women's Bible Study, Mid-week Bible Study, VBS, Missionary Fellowship, Cross and Crown Class all continue to be strong ministries to members, with encouragement to reach out to our neighbors. The choir presented a Christmas Musical which was very well attended.
JOHNSON CITY - NY "I am with you always." What incredible words of promise from our Lord. We follow Him and He leads us through all kinds of experiences and into greater knowledge of Himself. Here at JCPM we found this to be true again. Our Father helped us to stay faithful to Him. All praise to Him! He kept our focus on reaching out to our community and the world: VBS, handing out water and Bibles to yard-salers, evangelism booth at a local fair, bed rolls for the homeless and giving 27% of monies raised to various mission works are just some of the things Abba graces us with the ability to do.
NEW LIFE MOUNTAINTOP,PA - New Life Community Church We thank the Lord for His Grace. This year He has increased our congregation and allowed us to remodel our fellowship hall and sanctuary. We are blessed with new visitors to His church just about every Sunday. Our midweek Bible study now averages 30 plus attendees, and we have added new teachers. We are looking forward to VBS, this year we are bringing ancient Egypt to life for our young ones. What a great opportunity to show the deliverance of God to a suffering people. We are truly looking forward to serving God this coming year.

SCHUYLKILL DISTRICT:
TAMAQUA, PA - Tamaqua PM Church Looking back, we are constantly thankful for the many ways our Lord has shown Himself faithful time and time again in providing for our needs as a church and giving us many opportunities to continue to be used of Him; ministering to those within the body, in our community, and around the world. We look forward to continuing our work as a church, praying for His constant guidance. We are thankful for the precious gift of His word, the privilege of bearing one another's burdens through prayer, and the blessed fellowship of the Spirit between brothers and sisters in Christ.
SAINT CLAIR, PA - First Primitive Methodist Church this year has been marked with economic downturn of our nation, but in St. Clair, we have seen God's blessings. We have seen God working in many ways, through many areas of outreach. We received a family because we held congregation meetings, and were able to determine our future. We are in the process of adding another person because of our community outreach. We minister to many through Circle of Friends, Singles, Widows' and Widowers' Dinner to those who live alone. We also have reached out into the community with food boxes for Thanksgiving and Christmas. We had a Mother and Daughter Banquet for the women and friends of the church. We have worshiped together with the other Protestant church in the community during the Lenten Services, at Thanksgiving, and for Communion. We have included all the churches in town to pray for Revival. This has been attended by a number of the members of the churches in town. Our Vision Committee is active in planning ways we can be God's hands and feet in our community. We continue to be active in VBS outreach in the community.
WEST CONSHOHOCKEN, PA - Community Methodist - It has been a year of transition. We bid farewell to our former pastor and thank those who have stepped forward to serve while we wait for God to provide. We celebrate the service of long-standing members, many still serving. We are encouraged by new leadership, new members, and those stepping forward to serve. This year saw a wonderful celebration of our 116th anniversary with music by the Harmenaires followed by a hearty meal with great fellowship amongst 51 attending members and guests. We look forward to celebrating many more.
LANGHORNE, PA - Trinity PM Church I rejoiced with those who said to me, "Let us go to the house of the LORD." Psalm 122:1. We are striving to do God's will God's way, making new Christians out of unbelievers. To Equip the Saints to go forth to do the work God has called them to do. We are a partnership of Believers working for the Lord until He returns. We Praise the LORD for every Blessing He has given our Church. We strive to bless others outside the church as well; we do this with our many outreaches and food baskets for the needy.
NEWTOWN, PA - Newtown Community Church(Core Creek) 2009 was an enjoyable year. Our primary focus was on: Prayer, Children's Ministry, Evangelism and Youth Ministry. We highly recommend the book, "Comeback Churches," by Ed Stetzer, if your church is also looking to make a "comeback." We also stressed events and special Sundays that were geared toward the congregation making personal invitations to attend worship services. We enjoyed participating in several servant evangelism projects and we are now seeking God's wisdom as we work to transition to the next stage of operational development as a congregation. We praise God for allowing us to participate in building His Kingdom.

PITTSBURGH DISTRICT:
BEAVER FALLS, PA - The Church at the Crossroads Overall we had a wonderful year in the Lord. Our folks are growing spiritually and are working together to build God's church in many new ways. The highlight of the past year was the Fall Family Festival, a first in the history of The Church at the Crossroads. While we did not realize a gain in Sunday morning attendance, our congregation gained through the exercise and experience of working together. We are reminded of the words of Winston Churchill: "It is not the sudden tug of the emergency, but the steady pull of the long haul." We're all pulling together.
PITTSBURGH, PA - Carnegie PM Church 2009 saw the start of our 118th year in Carnegie. We welcomed 3 new members. VBS and Kids Club were successful both with an attendance increase. In November, a 'Veterans Recognition' Sunday was attended by Veterans from many wars, including as far back as WWII, that recognized the love commandment of Jesus, "Greater love has no one than this that he lay down his life for his friends." God helped us pay off the mortgage for our parking lot - in 7 years, a testament to His good work! We look forward to 2010 with the continued guidance of Pastor Dan.
PITTSBURGH, PA - Door of Hope Community Church Our theme "God's on Time in 2009." God showed up in so many ways, whether it was an unexpected check to pay for our gas bill or a prayer request of a huting mother, God was on time. Highlights for the year: 4 different teams came to help with outreach. the Night Hope Center, a drop-in center for youth to hang out, operating 3 days a week in summer averages 40 kids a night. YOUNGSTOWN, OH - Glenwood Christian Fellowship Family Nights (launched September 2008...2009 was first full year) had greatest impact on our church body. Every Wednesday averaged 45 people (every age & circumstance) gathering for dinner, a short video and spinning off into small groups or 'Character Quest' for the kids. It brought people together and reached many who would be less comfortable in a traditional service. In fall of 09 we launched a coffee house ministry to community that we are very excited about...3 Saturdays averaged 50 kids from Boardman High School gathering at church for great drinks, board games, live music and time to hang-out.
HOUTZDALE, PA - New Hope Christian Fellowship New Hope has had a new birth, a new focus this year. Spiritual growth and financial stability have resulted in a unified loving church family. Several new families have begun worshipping at New Hope and we praise our Lord for His blessings. Missions outreach and youth ministries are working to touch our youth with the message. We continue to draw strength from the Lord's promise that he will not leave us nor forsake us. We live by His grace and rejoice in His care and love.
BUENA VISTA, PA - Merritt PM Church The Merritt congregation is experiencing unprecedented spiritual growth and maturity. United as one body in Christ, we utilized two ministries we sponsor. Narrow Way Motorcycle Ministries and the Community Pastor Program, in ministering to our pastor and his family spiritually, financially, and physically in their time of need. Inspired by the Holy Spirit, a negative situation unites the church gody with the community as the Snyirs battle Katie's cancer. Fund raisers and world-wide prayer chains provide opportunities to witness as lives locally and world-wide are touched and changed by the living word of the Lord.
PITTSBURGH, PA - 2nd PM Church of Pittsburgh Psalm 107:1, "GIVE THANKS UNTO THE Lord for He is good...His mercy endureth forever." God has blessed us this past year. The youth group and a Bible study continue actively. The Sunday School supports a Compassion Child from Uganda. Many donated time, money and supplies to send 38 shoeboxes to Operation Christmas Child, and to support various local charities and missions. Thanks to the Lord for His blessings!
STREETSBORO, OH - Frost Road Chapel Greetings in the name of the Lord. It has been somewhat of a transitional year for us at Frost Road Chapel. We have faced many obstacles both physical and spiritual. God was very good to us by sending pastor Ron Perry to be the Shepherd and teacher we so desperately needed. through it all the work of the Lord went on. Our VBS touched many young hearts for Jesus. Our Christmas program was enjoyed by many. We are in the process of revitalization to be all we need to be for the Lord and our community.
PITTSBURGH, PA - Swisshelm Park PM Church We are so blessed at Swisshelm Park. We have enjoyed great fellowship this year, especially as we re-launched what will be an annual church picnic. We were privileged to continue with outreaches that have proved successful through the years, including VBS, Christmas and Easter programs, Operation Christmas Child, Tracts & Treats, and Mission Project Nights, but we also added family centered movies on the lawn in front of the church throughout the summer. Our VBS children were able to send funds to provide 120 Quiche Bibles to Guatemala. Membership and giving totals have increased. Missions giving more than doubled.

DODGEVILLE, WI - Standart God has looked upon our church with great favor and love. The Homecoming that we had was His greatest work yet in our rural community, with over 150 people in attendance including past ministers and families. Because of it, we have gained 15 new people in our weekly attendance. We continue God's work with our mission support. Our Women's Missionary Society has been able to purchase Bibles for people in China and Spain, and send prayer cards to Guatemala. They also support two young people for school - one from Guatemala and one from the Dominican Republic. May we continue the work of the Lord.
DARLINGTON, WI - Iglesia Hispana Evangelica 2009 has been a difficult year in Darlington. Pastor Mario needed to return to Mexico with his family without knowledge of a date to return. But the Lord provided Pastor Gil to fill the space and we praise Him for it. As the church throughout the years, we have lost a few but we have been allowed to see His hand as new people have arrived. We praise God for His faithfulness to us.

EASTERN DISTRICT:
CHELMSFORD, MA - Matthews Memorial - This past year has been a year of change at Matthews. The biggest change has been the transition from a Quarterly Conference to a Board of Elders. The board of Elders took over in late summer. They have helped overhaul the Sunday School and the Stable Coffeehouse. We are looking forward to more change this coming year. We are praying that God will show us how to make an impact on our community for the Kingdom of God.
LOWELL, MA - Lawrence Street We praise the Lord for His blessings at Lawrence Street PM Church. Our youth group has been active in outreach, and we have a praise band and church youth orchestra. Our block party was rained out, but still effective. We are grateful for our Missionary Society, and the strong emphasis upon missions in our church. The older folks are thankful for the elevator from our Social Hall to the Sanctuary. There is a great spirit of unity and friendship among those who attend each week; and the new folks appreciate the warm welcome.
CUMBERLAND, RI - Cumberland Community Methodist Church Our church is celebrating our 123rd Anniversary this year. Our congregation is no longer made up of people who are within walking distance of the building, but consists of people from a diverse religious, ethnic, social and economic background - different walks of life, and yet we enjoy the common salvation and form a close-knit body. As a people and pastor we walk by faith focusing our attention on Jesus Christ. We have 17-20 young people and an active Sunday School/Jr. Church program. We continue to support the missions program of our denomination. We have Bible Study every Wednesday afternoon, and had a VBS in June. We conducted a couple outreach programs to let people get to know our church. This past Fall we hosted an 8-week program called "Code," geared to unemployed. Special speakers from the business world would speak at each session. We also hosted a play entitled "Fish Eyes." We thank God for the ministry which has been entrused to us and look forward to the challenges of this new year.
PAWTUCKET, RI - Lus Y Esperanza (Light and Hope) Thank God that despite the difficulties we were blessed in 2009. Challenges: We still have not recovered fully from the disaster last year; finances are low; we lost 16 members due to unemployment and legal papers; we lost our musicians. Blessings: we declare a year of prayer for children and families of church members; we gained 11 members and have 4 in preparation; we received $1500 from NMB; there is a new awakening among our youth; the ladies and couples have a new dynamic program to rescue families; Sunday programs are more effective and varied; our evangelists have a new strategy to incorporate newcomers into cell groups; increase in Sunday School and Bible Studies; our new blog lets us be know on the internet - http://luzyes.wordpress.com.
PROVIDENCE, RI - Iglesia De La Communidad Our church thanks and praises God for another year of amazing blessings, where we have been able to see His mighty hand carry us through and help us to remain faithfully committed to the advancement of His Kingdom. Our ministries continue to grow, and among these ministries are those geared towards women, men, youth, couples, at home Bible study groups, and outreach ministry. 10 people accepted jesus as their Lord and Savior this past year. We also thank God because although our pastor has had to function in a dual ministerial and vocational role, our congregation has continued to grow and is stable. After many years in prayer asked God for a suitable building for our ministry, we have been granted the wonderful opportunity to purchase a building valued at more than $1,000,000, for the price of only $30,000, plus additional costs in order to repair the building. We request permission to borrow $375,000 from the PMIF to cover purchase and repairs.
NEW BEDFORD, MA - Thy Kingdom Come We continue to be spiritually blessed by our pastor, Jose Nieves on Sundays, and on Wednesdays he teaches our Level 1 and Level 2 Seminary classes. We continue to reach out to the community with our many ministries: Men's, Women's, Youth, and Kid's Church. Our basement floor of the church has been transformed into "The Cave" for our growing youth group. Our worship team singers and band now have plenty of room to glorify God on the new platform in the sanctuary. We hosted 3 Gospel/Worship music events in which many area churches came together and participated. We had a very successful Men's Breakfast and Women's Brunch where people were healed, delivered, and set free. Our summer cookout included 14 people baptized. We gave out over 250 backpacks and school supplies to children in the community at our annual "Back to School Bash." We hosted a Hallujah party for local area children on October 31st. Once again we gave out Christmas presents as a "Toys for Tots" representative.
LAWRENCE, MA - Evangelical Primitive Methodist Church Our Evangelical Primitive Methodist Church had a year full of blessings. We received a total of 76 visitors in our Sunday services who heard the message of salvation, of whom 19 received Christ as their personal Savior; many of them bear fruit of repentance. The different ministries work hard. We began the year with evangelistic cells, where the message was preached in many homes. In March Pastor Fernando Gomez was confirmed as the official pastor of the church. We celebrated an evangelistic campaign conducted by the youth of our church where many had reaffirmed their commitment with the Lord. In April we had a youth retreat, where we received our brother from the New Bedford church and Rhode Island churches. In the month of July we had a retreat at "Singing Hills" with them. In August the Mission of Lowell with Pastor Rolando Rodriguez, 14 adult and 7 juniors, joined us to strengthen the ministries of the church. Two evangelistic services were performed in the Campagnone Common Park opposite the church building. In September we had an evangelistic campaign which was a blessing. The ministry "Rescuing Children for Christ" continues to work consistently evangelizing the children of our community. We want to recommend brother Cecilio German and Leonardo Marizan to realize studies to become local preachers, and Eliezer Rosario as a suitable candidate for ministry in the Primitive Methodist Church in the USA.

SOUTHERN DISTRICT:
WESLEY CHAPEL, FL - New River Church We had one of the toughest and one of the better years in our history. Our attempt to launch a new church at a nearby school did not succeed. However, in the end, we learn a lot about who we are and are not as a church body. We increased the number of our Small Groups from 6 to 10. There were 36 people who accepted Christ, 75 rededications, 21 believer's baptism and 39 people in our church led someone to Christ. We are now working with a construction company and architect toward building a new facility.
BOWLING GREEN, FL - Christian Bible Fellowship We continue to reach those whom the Lord blesses us with, reaching those other churches generally avoid. Our ministry has expanded this year to include outreach through archery instruction via 4-H and we continue to assist a Homeschool co-operative through our members and also as outreach. We recognize that our ministry is intended to occur beyond our "four walls" though we strive to equip and empower each member as a minister according to their own calling. We desire to serve more and more effectively and are pursuing Christ in this matter. We intend to establish an outreach Bible study in a nearby city in the coming year.
KATHLEEN, FL - The Revolution Church We have learned a lot and we have grown in our love for Jesus. There is still so much to do but this year was a start. The community is responding to the efforts of outreach we made early on in the year. Small groups and discipleship efforts have increased significantly. Attendance peaked into the 160's but our facility simply was not equipped to handle that amount of people. We have added a second worship service which has handled a bit of the overflow but as was expected, that decision cost us some people. We changed our name to The Revolution Church indicating that we are working to transform our community one family at a time through a revolution of the heart. It's all good.
MARION OAKS, FL - La Gran Comision Metodista Primitiva This year we experienced many challenges and arduous work in our ministry, but God has been glorified. We are entering a season of changes that are favorable for the work. We have great expectations of development although the economy at this moment is not the best. New families are beginning to arrive at the Church and we see a favorable increase in Sunday services. God is taking us to the route of planting a new church this year as an extension of La Gran Comision in the state of Georgia. This will be a year of much work and new goals towards the propagation of the Gospel. My gratefulness goes for all the leadership of the church by its effort and dedication to this ministry.
