ABOUT US

The Primitive Methodist Church is a community of evangelical Christians, united for the mutual help in perfecting of Christian character, for the promoting of vital Christianity in the earth, and aiding in extending the Kingdom of Christ throughout the world.

We are a Bible believing, Christ centered, evangelical methodist church with no ties to the United Methodist Church.

Our purpose is to preach the gospel. The Bible reveals the purpose of the Church is to enable individuals to know God as Savior and Lord through faith in Jesus Christ and to glorify Him through evangelism, edification, education, and equipping the saints for the work of the ministry.

OUR MISSION

Out of obedience to God's Great Commission, to produce disciple making churches that will lead our world to Christ.

organizational structure

The Primitive Methodist Church is congregational in government. Each church administers its own affairs under the guidelines set forth for them in the Conference “Discipline”.

Each congregation elects its own leaders and pastor. Pastors are selected from a list approved by the Primitive Methodist Conference.

Each Church operates under the spiritual leadership of the Pastor. A “Station Steward” is elected annually to assist the Pastor, and to coordinate the activities of the Church in his absence.

The Quarterly Conference is the highest official body of the local church. It is the governing body to which all organizations, boards, etc., are responsible. It administrates mainly the spiritual activities, delegating others, such as financial, social, etc., to boards, organizations, and committees.

The churches of a geographical area form a District, under the supervision of a District Superintendent. Delegates from each District meet annually to receive and compile Church reports for the annual Conference Meeting. Each District holds a Missionary and Christian Education Convention, and assists the Churches in its area.

A delegate is elected by each church to represent the Church at the annual Conference to conduct the business of the Denomination. At this Conference, reports from the Districts, Boards, and various Committees are received, and programs are instituted to promote the growth of the Primitive Methodist Church.

A President is elected by Conference to preside at Conference. Throughout the year he has the responsibility of coordinating the work of Conference, Boards, and Committees.

INSIGNIA —
WHAT DOES IT MEAN?

pmsymbol.png

The Primitive Methodist Insignia is meant to represent discipleship and bringing the lost of this world to Christ:

  • The SHIP is representative of the vessel that is “fit for the Master’s use” and speaks of our heavenward voyage.

  • The MAST is the “Chi Rho” abbreviation for the Greek name of Christ.

  • The “Rho” forms the sail to catch the “wind” of the Holy Spirit.

  • The NET is to draw men to Christ with the lines of the net forming the longitude and latitude lines of the world globe.

  • The FISH are the sign by which early Christians identified themselves to one another in their days of persecution.
